The Orlando Police Department is asking for help identifying several suspects in a brutal downtown beating that put a man in the hospital.
The department on Monday released three cellphone videos which show up to eight suspects beating a man with their fists and skateboards near the intersection of Central Boulevard and North Court Avenue. Police have been unable to track down those suspects since it happened the night of May 1.
The victim, who was knocked unconscious during the fight, said it began as an argument after one of the skateboarders nearly hit him and his friend while trying to do a trick, according to police. The friend said he was also attacked by the skateboarders.
The videos show the two men arguing with the suspects before one swung a yellow skateboard at the victim’s head, knocking him down. Another suspect in a black shirt is then seen running over to the victim and beating him repeatedly with his skateboard before bystanders intervened.
The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries to his head, neck, shoulder and knees.
Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
