April 17–HESPERIA — A 24-year-old man was behind bars on suspicion of battery with serious injuries after a fight which broke out at the Hesperia Wal-Mart Saturday evening.
Adelanto resident Dashean Antwan Wages was arrested at the Wal-Mart at 13401 Main Street around 7:30 p.m. Saturday after deputies responded to a fight inside the store.
Authorities said it was first determined there was an argument between two women, which escalated to two men becoming involved.
Upon reviewing store surveillance footage, deputies determined that Wages, who authorities said was not involved in the initial fight, approached the victim and punched him several times in the face, knocking him unconscious.
The male victim, whose name was kept confidential, was transported to a local hospital with significant injuries to his upper body, authorities said.
Wages was booked at the High Desert Detention Center with a bail set at $100,000. He is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday at the Victorville Superior Court.
The suspect involved in the initial fight has not been identified at this time.
