UPDATE: Chicago police are livid over the fact that the District Attorney’s office has decided to drop all charges against Empire TV star Jussie Smollet, according to multiple sources.

“At the end of the day it’s Mr. Smollett who committed this hoax. Period. If he wanted to clear his name the way to do that was in a court of law so that everyone could see the evidence,” Johnson said. “I stand by the facts of what we produced. If they want to dispute those facts the place to do that is in court,” according to NBC Chicago.

Johnson added, “Do I think justice was served? No…I think this city is still owed an apology.”

The police spent hundreds of man hours trying to find two attackers Smollett claimed threw bleach on him, put a noose around his neck, and yelled ‘this is MAGA country’ as part of a January hate crime.

Police soon found out that Smollett had planned the fake attack against himself.

Kim Foxx, the Cook County State Attorney, even tried to interfere with the investigation trying to get local PD to turn it over to the Feds as she communicated with a family member of Smollett’s and Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, Tina Tchen, who is also a friend of Smollett.

“It’s a punch in the gut. Is absolutely a punch in the gut,” said Commander Ed Wodnicki, according to NBC Chicago. “We worked closely throughout our three-week investigation to get to point where we arrested the offender. For the state’s attorney at this point to dismiss charges without discussing this with us at all is just shocking.”

The Cook County State Attorney’s office statement read:
“After reviewing all of the facts and circumstance of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case.”

Smollett faced multiple charges including filing a false police report.

Smollett has also spoken saying he’s been truthful the entire time.

Original:
According to USA Today prosecutors have dropped all charges against the ‘Empire’ star for setting up a fake attack against himself.

Smollett pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on March 14th.

He has denied the charges.

Smollett was accused of paying two Nigerian brothers to act as fake attackers.

Smollett had said two people beat him up, threw bleach on him, put a noose around his neck, and yelled ‘this is MAGA country’ as part of a racist attack against the gay and black actor.

He even sat down with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts in a highly criticized interview a few weeks after the supposed attack.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

  1. All you media Lawer’s owe this brother an apology. People of color, stop allowing the media to bamboozle and trick you. Those who condemned this brother try a little humility and admit your short falls. Whom ever this rubs the wrong way, deal with it.

    • Why? Hes a lying douchbag that got everything thrown out because of who he knows. He has a lousy character and is a fucking lousy role model. He made blacks, gays, and actors look bad. I usually don’t wish any ill on people, but this dude has some karma coming, and he deserves every bit of it. Rubs you the wrong way, too bad.

    • Really
No one owes this man no apology. He bought his way of these charges. He still has to face possible charges of mail fraud from the Feds.
Smollett should be thankful he got away with these crimes and maybe he wont make the same mistake again.

    • Apoligize to this racist bastard ?? Never , he needs to be in jail for what he did , he tried so hard to prove Trump is racist , he had to fake racism to do it , think about that .

    • Excuse me? No one owes that man an apology! he tried to commit FRAUD against the state, wasted a ton of taxpayer paid hours and dollars, and LIED to the entire nation, as well as the local PD.
As to admitting to my own shortfalls, I admit to mine every day, and more importantly, I own up to them, and I do NOT use them as an excuse. I also strive every day to work past my shortfalls, and work to do better each day.
Jussie Smollett is the one who attempted to bamboozle others here. And for a very short time, it almost worked. But he failed, and he got caught. Now he is just being let off the hook, without even a slap on the wrists. He earned himself jail time, and the fact that he is escaping that shows just how screwed up things are in this nation.

    • Get real!!! Interference from high up!!! Feds still investigating the letter he mailed to himself. This is a white wash that goes toward Michelle Obama’s chief of staff and who knows how many others. This is such a breech of justice. Hurts real victims of hate crime and racial violence.

    • Yeah being friends with the former First Lady shouldn’t give you the freedom to falsely accuse people of felonies, attempt to start a race war, waste municipal resources, and discredit the nation’s administration. You are a damn fool. This is what systematic racism looks like.

  2. So, basically, he traded the bond money for dropping the case.
“After reviewing all of the facts and circumstance of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case.”

  3. Why did the DA’s office drop the case after approving it? What ‘new’ evidence allowed for that, and why weren’t the two Nigerian brother’s ever charged? Who will be charged now, besides the DA? Nobody get’s this? Somebody got some ‘splain’in’ to do!

  4. You are an idiot. The police proved he did it to himself, he just bought his way out of it with his bond and his connections. Nobody owes this negro an apology. All they own him is the ACTUAL ass beating he faked to begin with.

  5. He committed multiple crimes, color has nothing to do with. This state is a fucking joke. If you want prosperity in this state, clean the swamp.

  6. I’m breathlessly awaiting word on the commencement of the “No Justice, No Peace” riots…

Libtards in power still have each backs. Never forget it.

  7. So what I hear in the DAs statement is “in exchange for his bond money and volunteer services we will let him buy his innocence “

    Disgusting

Why else would he “surrender “ his bond money and why else would she mention this is “just disposition” for surrendering the money and volunteering.

  8. This is utter ridiculousness this guy lied and faked a hate crime he diminished everything that victims of true hate crimes go through he is an absolute piece of shit he should have been prosecuted to the full extent of the law anybody that reads this story knows that he faked this I guess he should just thank God that he hid the victimhood trifecta and we’ll never be held responsible for his actions again it is disgusting that he perpetrated this crime and we’ll get away with it simply because of his race sexuality and political affiliation

  9. Should we deal with it the same way the left has dealt with Trump being elected when it “rubs them the wrong way?” Or should we have a little more class?

  10. He brought shame upon himself and violated the law which could have caused another race war in the streets of Chicago, Additionaly Cook County Justice department has fallen asleep with Ms. Foxx who was politicaly movitvated to allow this criminal act to go unpunished. Ms. Foxx therefore has set a presidence that the law only applies to ordinary people and not the privileged who can buy your silence. I am sure that Ms. Fox will receive the red carpet treatment along with a ticket to the DoJ as her consolation prize for her putting on her blinders like the horse before the cart of true Justice.

  11. Just supposed he started a race riot, like he wanted too. What would be the outcome of his sentence then. He got off because he was black period. If a white person did something like that waters, reverend jessie,NAACP would be protesting and we would never hear the end of what that white boy did to those poor black kids. Its a fact.

  12. The story has been followed well by the Canadian media, including a radio interview today. But the DA’s race was never mentioned. That’s commonly omitted up here.

  13. This was a hate crime … But because he is of color so he gets away … Ridiculous…Love how this guy said we owe him a apology.. stupid libtards

  14. I am just wondering why everyone is so quick to say poor Jesse when he buy his way out of this mess, but when people buy their kids way into college it seems to not be ok? Or is it only not ok to buy your way out of shit if your a white celebrity?
