President Donald J. Trump praised law enforcement today, both on the stage at the Orlando International Association of Chiefs of Police and on social media.

“America’s police officers have earned the everlasting gratitude of our Nation,” President Trump said on the stage at the convention earlier today. “In moments of danger & despair, you are the reason we never lose hope, because there are men & women in uniform who face down evil & stand for all that is good and just and decent and right.”

President Trump was a popular guest at the annual convention, earning loud applause and cheers. During his time at IACP 2018, he honored several Police Officer of the Year finalists.

The IACP thanked the President on social media for attending and providing support to law enforcement

“We appreciate @realDonaldTrump for joining us at #IACP2018 to honor the Police Officer of the Year finalists, and the bravery and self sacrifice of all law enforcement who never hesitate to run towards danger,” the IACP said on Twitter.

In a post-appearance tweet, President Trump spoke highly of police.

Every day, our police officers race into darkened allies, deserted streets, & onto the doorsteps of the most hardened criminals,” he said. “They see the worst of humanity & they respond with the best of the American Spirit. America’s LEOs have earned the everlasting gratitude of our Nation!
