This woman needs a lesson on political tolerance — and a new pair of eyeglasses.
A patron at a Tennessee bar is accused of attacking a former NYPD cop over the weekend after she apparently confused the phrase on his birthday hat, “Make Fifty Great Again,” with President Trump’s signature campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
Daniel Sprague was in Nashville to celebrate his 50th birthday with his wife, who had just given him the MAGA-inspired hat, when they decided to go a bar called The Stage on Broadway, the Staten Island resident recalled in a Facebook post Monday.
While at the bar, he said, “a misguided soul” spun him around, punched him in the face and grabbed his hat while yelling, “How dare you?”
Sprague shared several photos with his post showing blood dripping from a cut on the left side of his face.
“I would assume that she had a ring or she maybe even had a set of keys or something to get it because it is pretty deep and it goes to the bone,” he told local news station WSMV.
The woman fled the scene, but Sprague filed a police report the following morning and authorities are investigating, the former detective said.
“This is wrong,” he told the station, adding that people shouldn’t “go around” assaulting each other because someone has a political view “that doesn’t match theirs.”
Sprague, who did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday morning, has previously made headlines for a different — and perhaps more shocking — incident.
During a trip to Mexico nearly eight years ago, the ex-cop said his family was robbed by a group of corrupt police officers in Canc\u00fan.
He told CBS New York at the time that he filed a report with that city’s police department because a woman had struck his wife in the face with a shoe, but cops reportedly threatened to arrest him until he gave them $1,500.
In his Facebook post this week, Sprague said the “unfortunate incident” in Nashville did not ruin what was otherwise an “excellent B-Day weekend.”
