The actor known for being the primary antagonist in one of America’s favorite golf comedies was pulled over for driving under the influence, telling officers he was “Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore.”
Christopher McDonald was cruising in his silver Porsche on Saturday when he reportedly veered off the highway, taking out a gas meter and slamming into an embankment.
According to WPTV, The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office confirmed that McDonald was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was taken to county to sober up and is reported to be released without bail.
McDonald is best known as Shooter McGavin, the professional golfer in Happy Gilmore who serves as the primary antagonist for the titular character.
This isn’t Shooter’s first run-in with the law- in 2013 he was arrested in North Carolina for the same offense.
In a bit of irony, McDonald was recently asked if Shooter had any advice for Tiger Woods following his DUI arrest:
