Two shop owners in St. Louis have had their stores vandalized because they dared to show support for law enforcement.
Elder’s Antiques owner Cherri Elder said the issues started after she hung up the flag last summer, drawing verbal harassment from some locals.
The flag bears a stylization of the American flag, albeit with a blue line in place of one of the standard bars. Elder claims the flag is flown to support two SLPD officers who patrol her neighborhood.
Unfortunately, not everyone is as supportive of police as Elder. Earlier this month, she found a large sign on her door that read, “Pig Supporters Not Welcome Flag Goes Down Or You Go Down.”
On Tuesday morning, however, her antagonists stepped their harassment up a notch by throwing a rock through her window. Attached to the rock was a note, reading, “You’ve Been Warned.”
The note was marked “MLM” (an abbreviation for Marxism-Leninism-Maoism) and bore the motto of the Peruvian Communist Party, “Viva Sendero Luminoso,” or “Long live the shining path.”
This isn’t the first incident this year involving police support flags being desecrated. In January, another antiques store was vandalized and four flags were stolen.
According to Fox2Now, no arrests were made in either case.
Emboldened by the incident, Elder says she has no plans to take the flag down.
