“SIGNAL 54, TEN 18, OFFICER NEEDS ASSISTANCE”

For a Tampa cop, when those words come across the radio they know a brother or sister is in trouble and needs a back up right away.  You drop what you are doing and speed to their aid.  We protect our own and you know when you make that call over the radio, the cavalry is on the way, no matter the circumstances.

“Back up needed, come quick, I need help!”  We don’t make that call lightly.  As you rush to the scene, you wonder just what the officer is facing and how you can help.

Now, Tampa Police Captain Danny Lyons is in trouble.  The call is going out, “Officer needs assistance.”  Danny is facing a struggle to control a very dangerous suspect that is trying to take his very life.  He is being attacked by a cancer that would destroy him, yet Danny is fighting back for his life.  He needs you to back him up.  Will you respond?  Will you race to help him?

Captain Lyons will soon enter Moffitt Cancer Center to continue treatment that will require 100 days of extensive care and painful bone marrow transplants.  The care is not cheap.  Danny must live within 15 minutes of Moffitt the entire time at a price of $8,000.00 that is not covered by insurance.  Add to that the associated costs of a temporary living facility that will affect his entire family.
