Whistle Blower Sues Claiming Retaliation

A veteran of the Montgomery County sheriff’s department has filed a whistleblower’s lawsuit, claiming the county retaliated against him for accusing a county commissioner of sexual harassment.

In his lawsuit Lt David Parks said that Commissioner Ed Rinehart had Parks fired as security coordinator for the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center in Conroe after the deputy alleged Rinehart had sexually harassed two female county employees.

Parks in a statement reported the allegations to “the appropriate authorities (and) instead of conducting a thorough and impartial investigation of the facts, county officials repeatedly tried to get me to abandon my duty and ignore unlawful behavior.”

The deputy said he took his allegations to county Attorney David Walker. Parks’ attorney, Brad Frye said Walker conducted an investigation but no charges were filed.
Parks’ who according to his lawyer “has a spotless record” is seeking reinstatement to his county post, plus back wages and court costs.
