Trooper Watts was completely wrong acting the way she did towards Office Lopez. Granted, Lopez was speeding ( alledgedly 120 mph ) and if that is the case, I agree its unreasonable. But it also unreasonable and WRONG for Watts to draw her gun on him, ( as if he was a criminal ) and arrest him for speeding. 200% wrong !
Lopez was in uniform lets not forget, and if Watts had admonished him and given him a speech about being careful and not speeding like that, that would have been sufficient. He would have been on his way.
I was a cop for 21 years, 17 of them in uniform, I would never EVER give another cop a summons, and drawing my gun on a cop in that situation is totally out of the question.
Trooper Watts showed her true colors, she probably dislikes cops and is eager to get a detail in Internal Affairs, I am sure of that... I get that feeling.

Or could it also be the fact that Lopez is hmmmm........ hispanic ??
Could that be the case ?
How sad it is to see cop against cop. Horrible !
What a world we live in !!

As a graduate of the U.S. Army military police school at Ft. Gordon, GA, it was drummed into our heads that we were"of the troops and for the troops". The meaning was clear that since we came from the troops, we were not better than they were and it was our job to support them by protecting and serving and leading by example. As a civilian police officer, the responsibilities and obligations are no different and the requirement to set the example is just as important. If we are to earn the respect and trust of the citizens that we serve, we must set the example and obey the law, just as we require of them. Because of my position, I cannot give my real name or email address and therefore they are not correct.

Lets see...a multiple choice exam is discriminatory. Very interesting, maybe they're just stupid and refuse to admit it.

This article holds a lot of truth to it. Let's face it, cops are speeders, I know, I am (or was, now retired) one of those. However, I never drove the speeds quoted in the article (90+) unless I was on the job and it was justified. I only cited for speeding when they were doing 15 MPH over the limit (interstates and limited access roads). Cops that speed without cause and have wrecks that cause traffic fatalities should be charged. They need to be held accountable. Too many of them are swept under the rug. It makes all of us look bad. Our shields are tarnished every time a cop does something bad.

The question is...Would he fire a deputy for doing the same thing or does he have a double standard like so many other Sheriffs?

I would say that if this sheriff doesn't enjoy the thrill of the chase, and fails to recognize the chases as job security, he should find something outside law enforcement, the sooner the better.

Wow....this is a tragedy. I am consistently hearing about Hillsborough County being corrupt. I am so weary of this "good ole boy" mentality. Where a police officer or another official spots corruption, naively believes that proper follow-up will happen. Then all of a sudden it gets flipped onto them. No wonder why people are so apathetic and lack a true desire to do things right. Why should they? All it brings is attacks.

Then we wonder why we have corrupt politics, etc.
