Governor Rick Scott and Hernando Sheriff Al Nienhuis
Penny Mecklenburg, the widow of Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy John C. Mecklenburg refused to attend the ceremonial bill signing of the new law named after her husband. She did not want to attend if Hernando Sheriff Al Nienhuis was attending. Mecklenburg says that Nienhuis is using her husband’s death for political gain in his run for Sheriff.
