Sheriff Al Cannon who admitted that he slapped and cursed at a suspect who was handcuffed and in the back of a patrol car at the end of a pursuit has been cleared by the Department of Justice of any Civil Rights violations. He is currently involved in a Pre-Trial Intervention Program for a state charge of battery for slapping the suspect. I would say that if this sheriff doesn’t enjoy the thrill of the chase, and fails to recognize the chases as job security, he should find something outside law enforcement, the sooner the better.
The question is…Would he fire a deputy for doing the same thing or does he have a double standard like so many other Sheriffs?
