For 15 years Phoenix police officers have had the choice of wearing a traditional button up uniform or a polo shirt with cargo pants. Now per an order by a new chief of police, effective October 1st, all officers will have to go back to wearing the traditional button up uniforms. Over 100 officers have filed grievances against the new policy so far. For up-to-date news accounts of this story, photos and to post a comment, please access the links below:

09/24/2012 - Phoenix police upset with dress code changes

Good for the Chief. Police dept’s are para military organizations and as such should display a professional look. It commands respect and makes the officers look good.
Casual look has no place in a Police or Sheriff’s Dept’s.
I was a Florida Deputy and we had to all wear the same uniform and it commanded respect and easy ID.
