Miami Police Union Fights Officer’s Firing For Fatal Shooting

Javier Gomez, the President of the Miami Police Department Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police has said that the union has filed suit against the city alleging that officer Reynaldo Goyos was terminated wrongfully.  Goyos shot and killed Travis McNeil two years ago as McNeil refused to listen to orders and reached for what turned out to be a cell phone.  The suit alleges that the shooting review board met in secret and refused to open its meetings to the public in violation of Florida’s open-government laws.  For up-to-date news accounts of this story, photos and to post a comment, please access the links below:
