In a city with a population of 53% of people of color, you might think that when the police department promoted 5 officers, that they would not all be white. Recently in Boston, the Commissioner promoted 5 white officers to Sergeant. Then an advocacy group for minority officers raised objections due to the lack of minorities being promoted. The Commissioner said that he would never promote based on race, that he would always promote the best person for the job.
