Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Michael Gauger has filed a defamation lawsuit against ex-deputy John Dougan. Dougan runs a web site that was formerly called PBSOTalks.com and is now called exposedgov.com. Gauger is accusing Dougan of a “shocking anonymous campaign of character assignation.” The attacks allegedly took place on Dougan’s web site. Dougan has created a one-sided slanderous forum against this person. He does prevent others from posting anything positive. That should not be considered freedom of speech, when his motive is slander and libel. If I told the Palm Beach sheriff or any other officer the things he writes on his forum in person, I would be arrested. Why should the internet be any different? Once a website, blog or forum can be viewed by the world, opinionated comments and outright accusations should be carefully considered or kept in a private forum. In my opinion, only solid facts should be open for the world to read.
The fact the Village Voice wants to fight for freedom of speech to keep their prostitution ads on backpages, amazes me! The Village Voice backpages has been caught allowing pimps to prostitute children, several times but they are still boldly fighting to keep their sex advertisements by exercising their freedom of speech. In my opinion, 30 million dollars a year means more to them than a child’s safety or life. Since this is a police forum, maybe someone here will know the answer to this question. If an adult harms a child under the age of 16 during a sexual act what are the chances of this teenager becoming a homicide victim? I would think the chances of a homicide happening would be extremely high, considering the punishment the person committing the crime faced.
If anyone voices their opinion about Village Voice Media and backpages, be prepared for Jose Lambiet and Dougas to retaliate. Jose Lambiet worked for the Village Voice Media and still is affiliated with this company. Most gossip columnist run in tight circles and help each other spread garbage about others, forgetting what they actually represent, themselves. What I am writing is not my opinion about Village Voice Media; this is all backed by facts.
I think Mr. Deblock is a good person by trying to give police officers a voice. Even the Military needs a place to vent about being in Iraq.
