After Florida State Trooper Donna Jane Watts pulled over a marked Miami Police Car for speeding, a south Florida newspaper did an investigation of speeding by law enforcement officers in south Florida. It turned out that the agency responsible for traffic enforcement on Florida’s Highways, Florida Highway Patrol, had some of the worst speeders according to the newspaper’s investigation. The FHP has now disciplined 31 Troopers for speeding and is requiring those Troopers to attend a 4 hour Ethics class. 17 other Troopers are still under investigation.
