Tampa police are investigating after a body was found in the Seminole Heights neighborhood and residents are being asked to stay inside, according to reports.

Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found at North Nebraska Avenue at East McBerry Street Tuesday morning, according to Spectrum Bay News 9. Officials believe the person was shot to death.

A 911 call reporting shots fired in the area came in around 4:51 a.m., according to WFLA News Channel 8. Police arrived within a minute and a man’s body.

Tuesday, police asked residents to stay in their homes, according to Bay News 9. Several streets were closed as officials searched for the killer.

Tampa Police Department spokesman Steve Hegarty told WFLA investigators are treating the death as related to the three recent unsolved murders in Seminole Heights.

In October, three other people — Benjamin Mitchell, 22, Monica Hoffa, 32, and Anthony Naiboa, 20 — were shot and killed within days of each other in the same neighborhood. The cases remain unsolved.

Police have been heavily patrolling the area since the investigations began.

The investigation is ongoing.
